Poem #5: Jackson Square at Night, New Orleans

At this time last year, I was preparing for what would be a life-changing journey to New Orleans last September. This August, I am reflecting on that time, along with who and where I was then, and who and where I am now.

This spring, the poem inspired by my trip, "Jackson Square at Night, New Orleans," was selected by Highland Park Poetry's 2020 Public Art Poetry Contest (and Chapbook) for display alongside the beautiful Solstice Supper mosaic at the Ravinia Train Station this summer. I am excited, nostalgic, and even a little sad to share it with you now:

Visited my poem in Ravinia last week, my first solo expedition beyond Chicago since March.
